Fabric Selection
This Mystery Quilt is made up of four colours - a dark, a light, and two mediums. It is important that there is enough contrast between the four fabrics for the pattern to emerge.
The finished size of the Mystery quilt is 72 inches square, and you could add borders of your choice if you want to make the quilt larger.
There are two options as to how you can choose your four fabrics.
Option 1
Fabric(1) – Medium
Fabric(2) – Light
Fabric(3) – Dark
Fabric(4) – Medium
Option 2
Fabric (1) – Light
Fabric (2) – Medium
Fabric (3) – Dark
Fabric (4) – Medium
Fabric (1) can be either medium or light, and Fabric (2) is the alternative, depending on which option you choose.
Fabric (1) is the most prominent fabric in the quilt, so choose something you really like.
Fabric (2) is the second most prominent, so ensure it contrasts well with fabric (1), and you like the way they look together.
Ensure fabrics (3) and (4) have sufficient contrast with fabrics (1) and (2).
Fabric Prints suggestions
Given the design, it is suggested that directional fabrics are not selected.
Fabric (1) - can be a large, medium or small print, tone on tone or plain fabric
Fabric (2) – can be a medium print, small print, tone on tone or plain fabric
Fabric (3) – would be best as a tone on tone or plain fabric
Fabric (4) – would be best as a tone on tone or plain fabric
