Pretty Quilt for a Girl

This sweet quilt was made by Edwina for her granddaughter Rachael.  She wanted the quilting kept light and used Hobbs wool so the quilt has a lovely soft puffy feel.

I ditch stitched all the piecing and outlined the appliqué.  In the plain border I quilted a daisy row which was in keeping with the feel of the quilt.

The back looks pretty too as Edwina chose a plain fabric which shows all the quilting (and the detailed ditch stitching).

This post is liked with Sarah's Blog for her Friday Whoop Whoop.

  4. In love with your flowers!! Sweet quilting Desley:)

I tried to do a large flower on a quilt I finished last week and the stitches would not lay right. They were too tight or way too loose. Now I am not doing it on a long arm either so that may be a whole other set of tricks! Using Janome MC6500.

  5. What a fantastic quilt design, it took me a minute to realize it was a circle of girls/ballerinas in the centre. The daisies are so cute in the border.

Sara - I have the MC6500 and there is a special bobbin case that you can get especially design for free motion and helps with tension. I usually have my top tension set to about 7 too.
