More William Morris

This is Val’s quilt, and the design is by Michele Hill.

Val likes very light quilting, so asked me to only outline all the appliqué, and quilt a circle behind the unframed appliqué.

This give a lovely soft finish to the quilt.

I have quilted versions of this design by Michele Hill several times.

Click here to see Margaret’s version – Margaret only did half of the appliqué blocks leaving me plenty of space for quilting feathers.

Click here to see Noelene’s version – Noelene didn’t appliqué the bows and had me McTavish the background.

Japanese Girls Quilt

This cute quilt belongs to Jean.  I quilted double loops in the background, daisies in the sashing and random straight lines in the border, which I call chopsticks.

More Feathered Rose

I am showing two quilts in this post – the same design, but different fabrics and quilting.

This is my design, called Feathered Rose.  Both quilts shown were made by my students, taught at my local patchwork shop.

The first quilt was made by Margaret, and she had me custom quilt her quilt with swags and straight lines in the border, and lots of feathers.  This is the second time Margaret has made this design.  The first one was a present, but this one is for her.

The second quilt was made by Jeanette, and was quilted with a freehand allover rose design.

You can see other versions of this design, including mine, here.

Australian Embroidery

This detailed and exquisitely hand embroidered quilt is made by Denise.  The design is by Linda Steele.

I have quilted a number of these quilts, and my aim is to make my quilting as inconspicuous as possible.

Denise’s embroidery is amazing – as you look at each block you can see more and more detail.

Princess Theatre Ceiling

A couple of weekend ago we took my nephew to see Elmo live on stage at the Princess Theatre.  Of course I couldn’t resist a photo of the ceiling to add to my collection.

You can see more detail of the chandelier in this photo.

Under The Australian Sun Quilt

This vibrant quilt belongs to Wendy.  The design and striking Australian fabrics are from Leesa Chandler.  The fabric range is called Under the Australian Sun.

It is quilted with an allover freehand leaf and swirl pattern.  I elongated my usual Windblown Leaves to make them a better match for the leaves in the fabric.

Blue and Green Quilt

This lovely quilt was made by Robyn.  I remember my mother saying as a child “blue and green should never be seen, except with a colour in between”.  Robyn has successfully proven this saying wrong – I think the colours are vibrant together.
