Magnificent Lone Star

I was very excited when Barbara brought me this quilt.  When she gave me artistic freedom, and told me I could quilt it heavily with lots of feathers, I was in heaven.  I really enjoyed quilting this quilt, and thank Barbara for entrusting it to me.

I decided to break down the cream setting triangles to mirror the setting of the star into the quilt, and quilt different feather motifs in each.

I also broke up the unusual shape in the corners to make the feathers more interesting.

I thought the quilting in contrasting thread showing on the dark purple back was gorgeous.  Unfortunately it was a dull rainy day when I took the photos so they didn’t show the quilting on the back as well as I would have liked.

I have linked to Esther’s Blog for her WOW = WIPs On Wednesdays.

  4. Fantastic!! I like that you didn't do the obvious one big feather in the cream, the fact that you broke the area up has really made this something extra special!

  14. Desley, I think you've outdone yourself, again!! You always seem to raise the bar (for yourself), and constantly amaze me with your insight. What a great quilt, ........ but the quilting really makes the quilt!
